ADULT CONFIRMATION
The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus' at his baptism in the Jordan and the Father acknowledged his son's mission as Messiah (Matthew 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22). Baptism is the primary sacrament of the Church. It is the key to life among the saints and gate that brings access to all other sacraments. By accepting the grace of baptism we gain entry to everlasting life in God's kingdom.
Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist are the sacraments of initiation for Catholic Christians. Catholics who are 19 years old or older, who have not yet been confirmed, or who have not yet made their First Holy Communion are invited to participate in this program. Those preparing for Confirmation and Communion are prepared as part of our RCIA program. Each year, a diocesan-wide Adult Confirmation ceremony is held at the Cathedral in January. Candidates may participate in this ceremony or wait to be confirmed at the Easter vigil at St. Lawrence O'Toole—St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church. Classes usually begin in September and continue through the following spring.
